Acer Aspire TimelineX 5820TG notebook

Last time we reviewed an Acer Aspire Timeline laptop — the 14in 4810T, which we tested in mid-2009 — we were impressed. This time we’ve got our hands on the new Acer Aspire TimelineX 5820TG, which is a notebook equipped with a 15.6in screen. We think Acer has another winner on its hands: the 5820TG is equipped with an excellent keyboard, a decent Core i5 CPU and dual graphics cards (one integrated, the other with its own memory). Acer Aspire AS5251 Laptop Review: A Sub $400 Laptop

Acer has recently skyrocketed in the list of the best selling laptops with their Acer Aspire AS5251.  At under $400, the price cannot be beat.  But does this inexpensive laptop pack enough punch to be considered among the best?

Acer Aspire TimelineX 5820T, a versatile Core i5 laptop

Acer’s Timeline laptops have always focused on efficiency, with low-voltage CPUs and long battery life coming ahead of performance in terms of priorities. That’s all about to change, though, as Acer updates the Aspire side of the range to use a faster CPU. It symbolises this shift with a change of name too: no more plain Timeline, this is a TimelineX. 

In case you were wondering, the “X” equates to “Xcellence”, according to Acer’s presentations, and the “Xcellent” processors in question are Intel’s Core i3 and i5 offerings.
