4 tips and the importance of computer recycling
The increasing need for computers in all fields of life, and the advancement in technology leads to computers today being one of the world’s increasing electronic waste. Disposing of computers is an important matter as it contains some environmentally hazardous parts. This is why computer recycling is now carried out to reduce the number of computers landing up in storage and landfills.
Computer recycling is the process of saving usable parts of personal computers. It is important that old computers are not thrown away as they have dangerous substances like lead, which are environmentally dangerous.
Computer CPUs and monitors have lots of recoverable and reusable parts like glass, silica, mercury, plastic, aluminum, copper, gold, silver and lead. Besides extracting usable parts, here are some additional tips to help with computer recycling.
All personal computers and peripherals should be donated to schools, charities, churches and organizations that accept donations. Even computer peripherals like keyboards, webcams and scanners can be donated as many groups will be ready to accept these peripherals to replace their broken units.
Parts of old computers that are still functional should be reused. If a computer has to be upgraded, do it by keeping some parts of the old computer like mice, monitor, keyboard and printer.
Old computers that is usable but needs improvements should be refurbished so that they are usable. Units that are not functional may be repaired, fixed or updated to ensure they work.
It is better to lease personal computers instead of buying them. This leads to better chances of recycling, reuse and refurbishment. Once you return the computer to the computer manufacturer at the end of the lease, they can upgrade and reuse the computer.
So you can see that there are many options for recycling computers. All you need is determination and belief in keeping the environment safe, and stealthily, there will be an increase in the number of people recycling their computers.
