Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)

The MCTS certification exams test a candidate’s knowledge of technology rather than specific job skills, and depending on the chosen topic MCTS certification, candidates need only spend one or two exams to earn the MCTS credential. This credential is for candidates who wish to focus on a particular Microsoft technology and is a prerequisite to move to the professional range as the MCITP certifications and MCDP. Work experience is not a prerequisite for the MCITP certification, but obviously hands on experience with the respective technologies will be an advantage.
